Surrender to the magic of nature

Unique experiences and activities in a mountain paradise

IN THE MOONLIGHT

At the Neraidorachi peak of Helmos mountain, the Aristarchos telescope has been operating
since 2007. This area was chosen for its installation because it is considered to have the least light pollution in southeastern Europe.
Although it is not open to the public the view of the sky is magnificent whether from up
there or not. Wherever you find yourself just look up!

IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE MYTH

According to the myth, Thetis baptized her son Achilles in the Sacred Waters of Styga to make him immortal, holding him by the heel.

Walk the path to the Styga following the traces of the myth and the descriptions of ancient travelers.

After a demanding two-hour hike, you can reach the waterfall and touch the “Immortal Water”.

BETWEEN TWO LAKES

Tsivlou lake is the only natural Alpine lake in the Peloponnese and is 11 km from Styga Mountain Resort by an asphalt road. Doxa lake is a beautiful artificial lake in the Feneos area and is 18 km from Styga Mountain Resort by a forest road. The 18 km between Zarouchla and Doxa lake is a uniquely beautiful forest route at any time of the year. Suitable for hiking, mountain bike, ATV and 4×4.

A WALK IN ZAROUCHLA

A walk in the village of Zarouchla will lead you, through paths and narrow streets, to beautiful Byzantine churches and old towers that bear witness to the long history of the area.

Immersed in the forest paths and forest roads will lead you to charming corners with gurgling waters and unique views of the village and the peaks of Helmos mountain.

DISCOVER THE VILLAGES NEAR TO ZAROUCHLA

The villages of Nonakrida, (Zarouchla, Agia Varvara, Vounaki, Chalkianika, Solos, Messorougi, and Peristera were the birthplaces of chieftains who played leading roles in the Greek Revolution of 1821. These villages still boast towers and churches that testify to their glorious past. Today, they are beautiful, picturesque villages nestled in the heart of Mount Helmos, each with its own square, fountain, and plane tree. The hospitable residents are always delighted to share stories of their illustrious history with visitors.

WHEN THE WOLF IS NOT HERE

Contact with nature nourishes the body and the spirit.

Wander through the woods and, depending on the season, fill your senses and your basket with the smells and tastes of pure fruits, berries, herbs and mushrooms, like modern-day foragers.

WINE AND FOOD TASTING

The slopes of East Aigialeia offer ideal conditions for the production of grapes. The wineries of the region turn them into excellent wines and we recommend you to visit them for a tour in the world of winemaking and the initiation to the flavours of wine produced from local varieties, some of them almost forgotten in time.

ACTIVITIES IN NATURE

If you prefer action in your holidays, we suggest hiking on paths and forest roads with varying degrees of difficulty, with or without a mountain guide, swimming and rowing in Tsivlou lake and a walk to the Mesorougi waterfalls for a stimulating natural shower in their gurgling waters.

We also suggest horseback rides by the river, archery or ATV rides on the forest roads surrounding the village in cooperation with an activity farm in the area.
